OPAM for May 2022

it's the end of another month and time to post our finishes for OPAM ...

I've been enjoying putting together this cute cosy quilt and doing some wavy quilting on my new machine.

Had the binding pinned ready to sew on tonight to have it finished but someone was hogging my sewing chair?

Thankfully she got off in time for me to get to work and finish the quilt in time for this months OPAM...

These two quilts will be send to Jan Mac to help folks in need...

Thanks KRIS for pushing us along to get our finishes each month.

Must away and get to bed....

Stay well and hope you get time to stitch.

FNSI and more

Even though dear Wendy was very busy over the weekend she still managed to put up a quick post and invite us to join in for FNSI this month.....

I spent the evening quilting and continued working on the quilt yesterday till it was finished ....
Afterwards I decided I needed to tackle the mess on the cutting table

I counted six projects on there all I have been started and put aside... So today I worked on my secret project and completed it ..That's one less.
Then I glued some more small Hexies for the pouch project,

before getting dinner organised.

Dinner over , dishes done so it's time to close this post and check out what others did for FNSI

Thanks Wendy and hope you had a chance to relax today and maybe so a little stitching.

Hugs  Maria  ❤

Catching Up

I've meant to do a post every day since last Saturday but the days just sped by so before I go to bed I'll get it done....

Last Saturday our Patch Group had a community sewing day .

Lots of cutting to be done and sorting out how the blocks went together.

Many machines humming away while others did the ironing and sorting out how the blocks go together.

By the end of the day there were two of the brown flimsy's ( like the one on the design wall above) had sewn together the mauve floral and one of the ladies had sewn the Pink Hearts together for "Pinking Up Dongara" a fund raiser for Breast Cancer.
When I arrived home I was happy to still be able to join Chooky and friends for a few hours on Zoom.

while I sat chatting I did some more on my La Passacaglia. blocks...

Chooky had finished and shown us a lovely "Churn Dash" quilt . She said she'd like to make another one and invited us to join in as a SAL. Of course I've joined in and have ordered some fabrics online. Hope they come soon.

If you'd like to join in pop over to Chooky's post here.

On Wednesday our group visited  "Russ Cottage" ( an old cottage where one of the original families of Dongara lived)  and after we had an interesting tour through the historical cottage.

we arranged our chairs and some tables under the trees and sat stitched , chatted , drank coffe and eat some nice treats...

I also keep forgetting to show you the gorgeous blanket my DD1 crocheted for me as a Mother's Day gift.... So spoilt...

Must away and get ready for bed.

Stay well and I hope you find time to stitch.

That Squirrel

That Squirrel of Lou's has not only hopped over the ditch to Aussie but has hitch hiked over The Nullarbor to the West and landed in my Cave......so instead of working on many projects I have to do I started two new ones.

This has been lingering in my cupboard for a longggggg time. So when I saw Lou had been working on the HST , which I remembered being left over from her Frivols quilt I decided to start mine.....

the cutting out done ..

first two blocks complete.....

Then I got distracted again when I opened a bag that was also hiding in the cupboard and this is what I found....

A gift my SIL sent me for a special "0" birthday some years ago ..

so now I've spent a few days , tracing onto visoflex, ironing cutting out and attaching to the panel.....Now I folded it up and put back in the cupboard .

Have just pinned a quilt ready to work on later this afternoon so I'll have a finish for OPAM. this month.

Must away now and get to the store..

Keep well and hope you have time to stitch .

Lessons and FnwFs

I've spent this week doing lessons online for my new Bernina 570 QE and pleased to have mastered the buttonhole applique as I was asked to do 5 "Heart" blocks of the 15 needed for a quilt to raise money for the McGrath Foundation .

Very PINK  but  that's the theme...

It will have some sashing between when it's put together.
I learnt how to do the "Serpentine Stitch" which I like to use when quilting.

Also I practiced making labels
It was lovely to join Cheryll for FnwFs and sit and stitch.... I worked on my " La Passcagalia "

Stitching and gluing....
Then this morning I made my Blocks for the " RSC"

This months colour is Sage or Forest Green.
Not sure if mine are right but I'm happy with them...

Delectable Mountains and half Log Cabins....
Thank you Cheryll and Angela, its always fun to join in each month.

A Very Happy Mothers Day to all the Mum's

Hugs  Maria  ❤

Home Again.

After spending a lovely relaxing time in the big smoke going to the movies ,
shopping for fabrics to use for my EPP project "La Passcagalia" and the stripey one for bindings

Fabric and zipper to make a "Retreat Bag"
some nice cotton yarn to learn to crochet some coasters

AND I bought a new sewing machine. A Bernina 570QE
Since arriving home and setting up the machine I've spent many hours learning how it works, so very different from th Bernina 440QE ... First I played with doing various stitches,

getting used the pressure foot going down as soon as you start sewing and then up again automatically is weird...

to get the hang of it I did some straight sewing
This months Aussie Hero Blocks were great to make.

and I've also been practicing  appliqueing  by using the buttonhole stitch.

I think I've rambled on long enough and if you've hung in till the end , thank you.

Must away as it's nearly midnight and time for bed.

Take care and hope you have some time to stitch,

Hugs  Maria ❤
