Churn Dash SAL

In May Chooky invited us to join her in a Churn Dash SAL . We were to make 8 blocks a month over four months making 32 blocks for a nice size quilt put on point....

June blocks......

July blocks....

Then at the beginning of this month I sewed up a storm and made 14 more blocks...

As our Patch group was going to our annual retreat in the Big Smoke thought if I make 2 more blocks I could make the flimsy ...

Sorry Chooky for going ahead of the others but it was good to have lots of room to lay out the blocks and have the ladies to help.....

The local craft shop is having a mark down sale @ $10 a mtr and I was lucky to find the perfect fabric with just  3.6 mtrs left, enough to half and sew together for the right backing....

Now to get it sandwiched to take to the quilter....

Look forward to seeing what all are up to in the SAL

Thanks Chooky for organising us..

Must away and bring in the washing,

Stay safe and happy stitching,

Hugs  Maria ❤

Row by Row.

When I bought the post pack to pop in the quilts for Jan that I showed you HERE I realised I could put in another quilt so I sewed together my Row by Rows that ladies at Patch make for me last year ( or was it this year??) ....

Quilted it with a Serpentine Stitch and shadow quilt around the applique blocks.....

This isn't the best photo of the completed quilt but can't take another as it's in the post pack on it's way over East.

When visiting my DD in the big smoke the other week she was detashing so of course I took home some pieces and this one was just the right size for the Row By Row quilt.

Must away and crochet some blocks together.

Stay safe and enjoy some stitching.

Hugs  Maria ❤

FNSI sewing Blocks....

As it was the third Friday of the month it was time to join Wendy and friends for FNSI.
I enjoy these evening because I seem to get organised and catch up on sewing my Aussie Hero Blocks and RSC ones....
these months request for Aussie Hero's was large Navy and White Stars.....

RSC colour for August is ORANGE.

My Delectable Mountains and Half Log Cabins....

This afternoon I spent tidying up The Cave.

Sewed a label on community quilt for Patch.

Got together a kids quilt, two quilts of love, two sets of booties and bonnet plus some pencil cases my GD had make , all being popped into a parcel on Monday to send to Jan Mac.

Aussie Hero Blocks also folded ready to put into a large envelope and send on Monday too.

So once again THANK YOU Wendy for doing our FNSI as I am now caught up and now get on with sewing the backing for Churn Dash together ready for the quilter...

Must away now pop on the kettle and check out what others have done HERE......

Hugs Maria ❤

Retreat Results...

I arrived in the big smoke last Friday afternoon and after spending a few days with DD1 and family I went to join the other ladies from Patch for our retreat...

The plan was to make my "Retreat Bag" Sunday, the first day ... tick ....

Monday I got all the blocks out for the "Laundry Basket 2021 Mystery" which I had bagged and numbered...

I sewed and sewed only stopping for a cuppa/meal breaks till after midnight  but had a few more rows to sew together in the morning and the top is done ...
and then it was time to work on Chooky's  " Churn Dash" blocks they were also bagged and ready to play with....Flimsy done but I think I'll put a small 2 1/2" border and then a 4 1/2" one....

TaaDahhhhhh!!!!  the three projects I planned to work on got done and I was very happy ...

Had the best time with my friends no cooking or cleaning just sewing and enjoying their company.

Must away and pop on the kettle.

Stay safe and well,

Hugs  Maria  ❤

Quick post and sign ups for FnwFs...

Just a quick post as I'm still getting organised for our groups retreat in the big smoke...
Machine, cottons, pins etc are packed as well as my sewing projects in the plastic tub.

Did two to see how it looks.

Not really loving the setting triangle fabric but that's what I bought so will have use it....bit more orangey than photo.

I'm going to Perth tomorrow to spend a few days with my DD and family before retreat on Sunday starts. So I'm sure DD and I will be spending time in her craft room for FnwFs... Even though Cheryll  away on holiday she's put a link up so don't forget to go over HERE to sign up....

Oh! Must away and check the dinner before it burns.

Stay well and happy stitching.

Hugs Maria ❤
