Catching up, SSCS and FnwFs

Just catching up with my posts after spending a few days in the big smoke...

I joined Chooky again this year for SSCS .

this year I received a big parcel from Martine B all the way from France..

I was allowed to open the square gift on the top left hand side ....

Look at the sweet little cushion with the cute hedgehog holding a star Martine made for me..
It will be difficult not to open the other gifts till Christmas day...

Huge thank you Martine for my gifts and also Chooky for organising the swap with her Elf helper Denice...

For the last  FnwFs of the year I joined the lovely Cheryll and friends while visiting my DD and family......
It is always special to be able to spend a FnwFs in my DD craft room.....

While Sandra sewed costumes  I traced a free Christmas stitchery Michelle kindly shared with us and also started making this felt Santa ornament....

I enjoyed a visit with my sister ,  went shopping and of course going to Miss Maud's for Princess cake with my DD and GD

enjoying my GDs dance concert on Saturday and today it was time for the drive home ...

BUT I don't know why I always seam to come home with a pile of stuff from DD craft room.....

An unfinished Baby Quilt , left over FQ bundle, pieces of fabric , tin of beads and felt ornaments a friend gave her ?????

Hmm... you'd think I have enough stuff in my own Cave.....

It's time now to make a cuppa and check out with others have done for FnwFs ...

FNSI November ....

I had the best night sewing away with Wendy and friends but before I went inside to sew I wanted to take some photos of this amazing sky.........

on the corner of the Block..

Looking from the back verandah....

Then I settled down to the fun....

First I completed the Secret Sewing....

Then I went digging through my coulourful fabrics to make my youngest GGs "Peter" his Santa Sack....

Thanks Toni from Red Boot Quilt Company for another Funky pattern... Love them all....

while lots of brights were lying around I thought I'd make this basket.  When the Great Granndies call in they love playing with my empty cotton reels and I've wanted to make a basket to put them all in...

also thought I'd make a pencil case with a piece of old tape measure cut and popped into the top...

Had never tried that and it worked out okay.

                 I was happy with it....

Thank you sew much Wendy for another fun filled night of sewing along with you and all my virtual friends....Will pop over and visit you all over the weekend BUT I have just downloaded the

"First Installment" of   Bonnie Hunter's Mystery "Ringo Lake" and I must away to tidy the Cave and make a start.......

Will need to add a few more lighter ones to the oranges for a sunset , aqua/turquoise and browns

This and That... FNSI next week ......

A few weeks ago Jo from ButterZ had some great fabric on her blog I knew would be a perfect backing for a "Long Time" quilt I'm working on..
First Jo kindly checked out the store where she purchased it for me but they had sold out. Then she send me a photo of the salvage edge and I was able to chase the fabric up....
I was delighted when I received the lovely parcel from Spotlight...

Isn't it just right......

I have been busy putting the blocks of  Melissa's  "Round About Quilt Along" together... I did find it tricky and you can pick the first two I made as they'er a little wobbly...

Next week we can sew all the these blocks together .. I think six will make a lovely Baby's Quilt.

It's FNSI  next Friday as Wendy has had a very busy week.....

Iv'e got some secret sewing to do and also hope to finish quilting a Super Hero quilt now I have an extra week......

Happy Stitching

While we chatted and DD did some stitching as well.

Over the weekend we had a few walks along the beach and went for our fist swim for the season.....

OPAM !!!!!!!

Well it's that time of the month we need to upload our photos of any finished projects for OPAM that the lovely ladies  Kris and Peg organise each month keep us on track .... Thanks heaps....

I made 12 Boomerang Bags

A Mickey Mouse Baby quilt to send to Jan Mac...

and as my DD and family loves "Halloween" I took the idea from two of Toni's patterns from Red Boot Company and made four place mats...

These Christmas Trees were made at our fun workshop earlier in the month....

I also found a bag of Black and White tumbler blocks in my stash which I made into these....

Remember nearly four weeks ago one of these nasty fellows bite me on the legs....which have finally healed....

Well one of his buddies decided to nip my hand last Thursday...

I've decided to leave the leaf raking to Hubby..... Now I can spend more time to sew....
