OPAM for Sept..

It's been a very busy productive few weeks for me and I am pleased to have completed the last four quilts that I had cataloged in time for our Quilt Hanging..
A huge thank you to Peg and Kris for organising OPAM which I joined 6 years ago. Sew this is the third Quilt Hanging they have kept me on track for....

First is "Pineapple Surprise" a Jelly Roll Workshop started at our Stay at Home Retreat last year....

Next was my "Snapshots SAL"   organised by the Fat Quarter shop and monies raised went to St Jude's Children's Hospital....

as it was a huge quilt measuring  66" X 88". Far too big to do under my poor Bernina , I had it quilted by a longarm quilt...

" EPP SAL" with Helen Stubbings..... Also started in 2015..Completed Sept 2016

The Engilsh Paper Piecing quilt was a new challenge for me and I am not sure if I would use  the method again but I am glad I kept going and finished the quilt.

and of course  Lynette Anderson's BOM " Chateau Hexagon"

All the sleeves and name tags have been stitched onto all my entires and DDs sew I can now catch up on some other things...

Happy Stitching

My EPP progress and FNSI ??

I realised that it has been nearly three weeks since I went on retreat and never did the second post to show you what I worked on....
One of the projects was my EPP Sew Along with Helen Stubbings and I'm pleased to have the blocks all sewn together and both borders on

Have found the perfect piece of fabric for the backing in my cupboard BUT it will need a little piecing..Hope to have it all ready to sandwich and pin when I go to Patch tomorrow....

as it's the third Friday of the month this week I will be signing up with Wendy for FNSI....
Hope to have lots of you to sew along with. I will be working on my "Chateau Hexagon"

Happy Stitching...

GRRRR!!!!!!!

This morning , while the washing was on, I thought I'd overlock the sleeves for my DDs quilts which will be in our Quilt Hanging. DD is very busy finishing off costumes for her Hubby and her as they are also going to England to fight at the "Battle of Hastings" in a few weeks.

It should have been a simple job to overlock and attach the sleeves BUT the cotton on the overlocker/serger was black and I needed white. Tried tying the thread and to pull it through.
Of Course that didn't work sew I had to re thread all four not once but several times ....
After over an hour and a half , with the washing machine beeping in my ear, I finally got it threaded...

Sew with the washing hung

sleeves overlocked, which only took about 15mins....

I have them pinned onto the quilts ready to sew....

Why doesn't someone invent an easier way to thread overlockers/sergers.......

I'm off now for a coffee......

Pin Cushion Parade

thank you to  My Sister made Me do It  for the Pin Cushion Parade  again this year...

These are some of the pincushions I have.....

I use most every day but some just live on my dusty shelf..

This one lives next to my chair in the Cave...

I take this one to retreats and  Patch.....

Needles live in these,

and my four bigger ones go from the cutting table to next my machine...

and this special little one lives in my sewing basket..

He's quiet old and was given to me by my DD2 many years ago. He's even been patched...Most of my pin cushions have been gifts or swaps sew they bring back memories of the ladies who gave them to me...

You can visit over HERE to see others and also join in  the fun..

Oh must away I have a lunch date with the ladies.....

FnwFs for Sept.....

I always enjoy sewing along with the ladies for FnwFs and this week there were 22 others doing the same....Thanks Chez for popping up the link even though you are busy having a great time.

There are now only 4 weeks of sewing left to our Quilt Hanging sew I am spending every spare minute hand sewing as I would love to have the EPP quilt done and also my "Chateau Hexagon" wall hanging.....

Last night I managed to get 2 EPP Blocks ready to stitch onto the background

Opps! one more red dot to do...

and nearly got the last one ready too......

then I need to piece them all together , sandwich, pin and quilt .....

I also worked a little on the "Chateau Hexagon"

The sun is shining and it's a beautiful Spring day , nice to go for a 90 km round trip drive to deliver a flimsy to be quilted... Just haven't got time to do myself......

Will be joining my Northern Hemisphere ladies tonight. It's always nice to pop over and visit others to see what they have done  HERE..

Happy Stitching
