Busy week and OPAM for April

The past week Iv'e been busy helping with different projects.
Each year our town holds "The Biggest Morning Tea" to raise money for the Cancer Council.  A great group of ladies organise it. My friend Jenny and I 's job is to visit the local businesses to get orders for plates of morning tea for $5 which we will delivered on the day...

Also I've joined in to sew for " Days for Girls" .. Please click on the link to see the great work that's happening through this organisation...

These are the shields I've sewn .

Wednesday after the parade and service for ANZAC Day  it was time to sew-a-long at  The Empty Bobbin  doing blocks for the Homeless Quilts Project.

Thursday was sewing at Patch and I 'm still working On Ringo Lake.  I feel like there is no end to that Mystery Quilt !!!!!

Fridays I'm off to Building Better Bones , Saturday was a 5th birthday party for my Great Grandson.
And of course I still go for my morning bob while weather permits....

Sew I'm happy to have finished my "Holly Christmas Cottage " quilt  for OPAM

You can see my other finishes HERE  .... Thank you to both Peg and Kris for keeping us on track each month.....

Happy Stitching..

FNSI for April.

Thank you Wendy for once again organising  FNSI . It's always nice to get ready to sew along with the ladies..  Look forward to seeing what everyone worked on over the weekend.

I got an early start and appliqued my " Spring Mandala " cushion designed by Toni Alexander from Red Boot Company

Toni is always very generous and this is a free download. You can get it HERE

During the week I cut out four placemats ready to make. I had seen an easy way to do mitered binding on Jo's Blog I wanted to try.. Does make binding easier...Thanks Jo .....

these will be donated to pop into a raffle basket to raise money for the "Cancer Council's Biggest Morning Tea"  to be held on May 11th 2018.

Oh ! earlier in the afternoon I hunted in my stash box and cut out the next lot of blocks for
   " My Small World"

but didn't have time to sew them.  May get round to them later but first I have some boring sewing to do. Take up Hubby's new pants so he can wear them on ANZAC DAY.....

The Week that Was...

Well another busy week has flown by with a quick trip to the Big Smoke and of course DD and I managed to go out for a coffee and visit one fabric store...

I needed some sewing machine needles and these yummy strippy fabrics fell into my bag...

Yesterday I attended the " Autumn Roundup"  . It's an amazing weekend of all sorts of different workshops and some nice stalls...

I bought a nice Lynette Anderson pattern while there that I hope to stitch before next Easter to pop into my mini frame..

My friend and I sat and sewed "Blocks for the Homeless" as we both decided we didn't need to start a new project....

Trimming blocks . A nice pile ready to sew together for Shaggy Quilts.

Today I thought it was time to get back to Bonnie Hunter's 2017/18 Mystery , On Ringo Lake.....

I still have many more blocks to sew before the quilt is complete....

FnwFs sign up...

Tomorrow is FnwFs with the lovely Cheryll and you can still join us by linking up HERE....
It is always a fun night sewing along with all our virtual friends and then visiting to see what folk have made.....

I'm going to play with my huge scrap box

because after seeing Joy's Blog about her visit to "Gotham Quilts" in New York and that she bought two kits to make " My Small World"

It reminded me that when DD and I went to the craft show in Melbourne a few years ago and we bought the book as my friend Ellyn had made the wall hanging and I loved it.....

Sew ladies that is what I"ll be doing. What will you be working on ???????

Crazy Easter Weekend......

I hope you all had a great Easter weekend ... As I live in a small tourist/crayfishing/retirement town it is always very busy over the Easter weekend with lots of tourists....

Saturday there is a Big Easter Markets in the morning and our Patch group always Raffle a quilt there and monies raised go to a charity.. I just wasn't organised and didn't get any photos.

In the afternoon the horse races are on but for me it was time to go home relax and sew....

I put the first eight blocks of    Lynette Anderson's Seaside Town BOM    together.

and traced the next block...

For Easter Sunday the Community Resource Center  ( with lots of help from many ) organise a Monster Easter Hunt starting in the Town Park..

This year my DD1 come up to look after her GC, Miss 7 and Miss 5 while their Mum ( my GD )was in hospital. Sew my GDIL come with Master 4 and Master 15mths to join in for the hunt....

Nice to have all four Great Grandies together....

With hand bands on we are ready to set off .

 Off we go !!

Down by the river

                                                            Hunting for the tokens....

THEN ! Miss 5 went missing........Panic ! calling her and then it was off in all directions looking for her......  After nearly an hour Miss 5 was finally discovered. Thankfully two lovely ladies keep her with them till my GDIL caught up with her...

Here is a map we were to follow and I have marked it with an X were Miss 5 went missing and then found, about 3 kms away around the other side of the river.....

Miss 5 followed people along the river over the bridge along the other side of the river past the Monastery ( where I do Patch ) and through to the new estate.

Once we all reunited and rested it was off back into town , adults tired and relieved and Miss 5 none the worst for her ordeal.....

Back over the Troll bridge ,

See the river on the left . One of the reasons we were so worried....

Finally back to the Gazebo at the Town Park to hand in the tokens and collect their Easter goodies. All children received the same.

Happy cousins !!!!! and after enjoying a Sausage in a bun, drink and some fruit it was off home.

Sew today Great Oma needed to relax and I sewed the 3rd block of  FatCat Patterns Christmas Gnomes.

Happy Stitching.
