The Week that Was!

Another week has disappeared and only a few days left of this month too!  Each morning I join my friends to go for a dip.

First we all fill our little buckets sew we can wash the sand off our feet before getting in our cars after our dip....

It's been beautiful the last few days but a little cold when we first get in.

On Thursday we enjoyed a cuppa at the Seaside Cafe before one of the ladies go on holiday.

I have been trying to finish the last UFO Challenge for  Sunday Stitchers ... I'm doing the buttonhole applique after I've sandwiched the wall hanging . As it slow close work I seam to be going cross eyed

sew I'm  also quilting a Kids quilt to send over East as its just straight sewing...

and in the evenings I've been doing a little stitching on one of Michelle's lovely free designs she's kindly shared with us....

as well as doing some secret Christmas stuff...

FNSI and Retreat.

I made an early start to FNSI with the lovely Wendy and friends after packing up my small machine and projects for our clubs last "Stay at Home Retreat."

I did the last of the quilting on my No 12 challenge quilt but didn't have enough for a binding so folded it up to take to the hall with the other projects .

At 4 0'clock it was time to drop hubby off at RSL and then I joined my friends for our sewing weekend.

First I sewed the binding on last month's challenge quilt

Before it was time to stop for dinner, and afterwards I was on cleanup duty and then time to pick up hubby and home...
Saturday morning I went for a dip

home for shower andon the way to the hall popped into our little craft shop to find some fabric for the binding on my challenge quilt.

A bit more sewing on yesterday's project and a finish.

prepared the binding for the next challenge.

Wasn't sure first about the brown spot but it does look good when sewn on . Then finished the quilt this morning...

Next to  sew on the black border then sandwich and pin ready to quilt,

before it was it was time to pack the hall up and home I also got some QAYG Blocks...

A huge thank you to Wendy , my virtual friends and all the ladies from Patch for a fantastic weekend of sewing.....

Must away and do the dishes ,

Happy stitching.

Hugs Maria 😊

Catching Up

Over the past week I've been catching up with Blocks...

First I stitched the last block for Jane's SAL, then joined them and added a border.....

I think it still needs nother border to make it a bit bigger....

Made a "Healing Heart " through "Scquilters"  to send to a lady who needs some cheer.

An applique Block to add to others ladies at Patch have made to make a Quilt for a lady in our community..

Blocks for "Aussie Heros"

and some banners to be added to quilts....

As it is "Days for Girls " meeting I also sewed some more shields...

Tomorrow I'll service my machine and hope to quilt my  No 2 UFO Sunday Stitchers challenge which I'll send to the ladies here and I'm sure I'll have a couple more I can send .
Would be great if some of my blogging friends could also send a quilt

I am thinking of the all the people who live in the fire areas. Please stay safe ......

Must away as it time to hit the sack...

Happy stitching

Hugs  Maria 😊

FnwFs plus SnwFs

Early yesterday evening I sat down and joined Cheryll and friends for FnwFs.......
I decided to work on my " Sunday Stitchers" No 2 Challenge ...  Quilt Aid Blocks which I started way back in 2009..

First I needed to finish the buttonhole stitching around the applique on the blocks.

Which took a few hours and then  I cut some sashing and started to join the blocks together...

Because I had made some of the blocks into cushions ages ago I only had six blocks left and after sewing on the sashing it was still quite small sew I cut up the remaining fabrics from the blocks to make a Piano Key border...

I sewed them together and then it was time for bed . As I was really enjoying putting this flimsy together decided I'd join our friends from the Northern Hemisphere for another night of sewing along for SnwFs

Saturday....

This afternoon I got all the piano keys sewn together for the sides ,top and bottom of the flimsy...
After dinner I got the borders sewn on ......

It now measures 39 1/2" by 53 1/2 " , a good lap size and i'm really happy with it.... Maybe I can pop down to Patch tomorrow and sandwich and pin it !

Before calling it a night I made a binding for the "Baby Beach Ball" quilt. Now I can get it finished ...

Must away now and tidy the Cave a little.....

Happy Stitching
