Last FNSI for 2021

A big thank you Wendy for keeping us going for FNSI during another crazy year. I always enjoy Friday evenings stitching along with all my friends .. I'm looking forward to joining in again for 2022...

For FNSI I finally finished stippling Hubby's  "Aussie Flag" quilt after a hiccup,

because I had to keep the quilt folded in case Hubby come in and would see what I was sewing it got caught  and I sewed it double so there was some unpicking.

As I used Bamboo wadding (which is very messy) I had to vacuum the floor and clean the machine before making a start to attaching the Stars on the quilt....

So now I must away and get some more of the Stars done ....

Stay safe and well.

Hugs  Maria ❤

Bobbing, Visiting, Shopping, Mail Received and Sent, plus more !!

Most days begin with a drive to the beach to have a dip with my friends .... We all take along a small bucket and fill it with beach water to wash our feet before getting in our cars....

the waters been lovely and it's a great way to start my day.....

At the end of October I asked if anyone would like to join in an easy Tea Towel Swap , no pressure just whenever they had time.. 7 ladies joined in and so far 4 have sent me their gorgeous decorated Tea Towels.

This cute "Diva" Tea Towel was made and sent from Cheryll......

Next is a Beautiful Garden Themed one from Fiona

Both Janice and Jo did different Caravan Themed ones.....

Lots of fabulous funky caravans, bikes and camping things on Janice's

and Jo appliqued a cute caravan with bunting  on a lovely HUGE Tea Towel...

Thank you Ladies, love all the tea towels and they seem to nice to use. 😉
I've done all my Christmas cards and got them posted

We did a quick trip to the big smoke to visit my DD2 and family ... While there I finished some shopping and have posted the Great grand Kids Christmas  parcels...
After see Janice's  Laundry Basket Mystery Quilt  I decided it was the one I would like to make for our bed from the FQ bundle Iv'e had for ages, so I have downloaded the pattern and can't wait to start it

BUT before I do I've got 12 days to make Hubby a new "Aussie Flag " quilt for his Christmas gift....

I have mended his old one so many times , as you can see HERE , it is time for a new one...

Half of the 6 1/2" blocks have been cut
and I've made a start on the English flag for the corner

So I must away, make a cuppa and get on with my sewing......

The Last FnwFs for 2021

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas so for the last FnwFs for 2021 organised by Cheryll I decided to do some Christmas sewing with my friends....

I had an early start and the first thing I made was this "Gnome Mug Rug" .Another free design by Toni from Red Boot Quilt Company but she made it bigger for a place mat with stars ⭐️  on the side.

Four Christmas stockings for my GGC.. Will put in some small gifts and sweet treats.
and as all the Christmas fabrics were scattered all over the cutting table thought it would be fun to make a pile of mini stockings as wee gifts for my bobbing friends to hang in their trees....

You can pop over HERE to see what other have made  ....

A Huge Thank You 😍 Cheryll for keeping us sewing together every 1st Friday of the month through another difficult year. look forward to joining in again in 2022..

Must away and pop on the kettle.

Keep Safe and well.

Hugs  Maria ❤

OPAM and WOOFA challenge

Where did November go? Can't believe it's time to post again for OPAM organised by Kris.... When I read Kris's post to remind us to update the side bar , do a post and send her an email I thought that I hadn't a finish for this month but I forgot about the two bags I made for "Days for Dignity"  Even put zippers in them!

and the "Christmas Pixie" I made for my DD2....

For the WOOFA Challenge organised by Cheryll  I worked on my long term project "Urban Owls"

If it wasn't for the challenge this quilt would have been thrown into the back of the cupboard never to see the light of day again...

Huge thanks to both Cheryll and Kris for keeping me on track and inspired to work on my projects each month...

Must away and do a bit more quilting .

Stay safe and well.

Hugs Maria ❤

FNSI for November 2021

Before I could even start to sewing for FNSI with Wendy and friends I needed to clean the Cave and find a pattern I had put in a safe place last year and wanted to make??  I looked in most of the places I THOUGHT I could have put it and finally the last plastic tub I found it.....

After tracing and cutting all the pieces I started sewing ....

By the end of the evening it was time to birth the Pixie

today while joining Chooky and ladies from US, NZ , Germany and the other side of Aussie..on Zoom...I stuffed the Pixie

Was a fiddly job but I am very happy with him but I wanted him to have  pants....

After dinner I found some fabric and got him dressed ...

The pattern I used was a free one from Shabby Art Boutique . Check out the link as  Kerryanne as more free patterns... Thank you Kerryanne..

I must finish this post and go to bed,

Take care and stay safe,

Hugs  Maria ❤

Working Through the List......sign up for FNSI.

In the midst of the chaos I was working through a list of things I wanted to get done ........

First the tea towels for my swap.....

Done and I'm happy to have popped them in the post....

Next the blocks for Aussie Hero's  and they have also been posted..

I wanted to get the border on the Down Under flimsy so I can get it off the design wall.....

It sure took a lot of time because I decided to change it from the original one...

Really made me appreciate the math Toni does to make all the gorgeous borders  for her quilts.......

It was time to for a backing and I was great to find this one in my cupboard.

While I was on a roll I cut the wadding. Packed the flimsy, backing ,wadding and pins into a bag and down to the Patch club room to sandwich and pin the quilt........ it makes easier when there a four big tables to do the job on and not a sewing day.....

Ready to be quilted ?????????

The reason for getting these projects out of the way is because I really wanted to make a couple of bags for

 "Bags for Dignity"

There's been a Jelly Roll waiting for a special project and this was it..

It's such a great cause and I am pleased to have finished two bags and filled each one so I can deliver them tomorrow.....

Oh!! Nearly forgot . I also got another spider web block made as a leader and ender for the Row by Row between projects...

Must away and clean the machine and put in a new needle ready for
FNSI with Wendy this Friday .

Do pop over so you can sign up and met her gorgeous Grandson Ryker....

Take care and Happy stitching

Hugs  Maria ❤
