I decided to work on my " Sunday Stitchers" No 2 Challenge ... Quilt Aid Blocks which I started way back in 2009..
First I needed to finish the buttonhole stitching around the applique on the blocks.
Which took a few hours and then I cut some sashing and started to join the blocks together...
Because I had made some of the blocks into cushions ages ago I only had six blocks left and after sewing on the sashing it was still quite small sew I cut up the remaining fabrics from the blocks to make a Piano Key border...
I sewed them together and then it was time for bed . As I was really enjoying putting this flimsy together decided I'd join our friends from the Northern Hemisphere for another night of sewing along for SnwFs
Saturday....
This afternoon I got all the piano keys sewn together for the sides ,top and bottom of the flimsy...
After dinner I got the borders sewn on ......
It now measures 39 1/2" by 53 1/2 " , a good lap size and i'm really happy with it.... Maybe I can pop down to Patch tomorrow and sandwich and pin it !
Before calling it a night I made a binding for the "Baby Beach Ball" quilt. Now I can get it finished ...
Must away now and tidy the Cave a little.....
Happy Stitching
HUgs Maria 😊

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely quilt you have made Maria - the colours really look good together.
ReplyDeleteYou had a very productive weekend Maria, your quilt looks wonderful. Great stripey binding.
ReplyDeleteI started that quilt way back when too and ended up giving it away to someone. Your finished top looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteJust catching up on all of your posts here, Maria. This one turned out so nicely and it makes a great lap quilt. Do you still have the cushions? Your Brutus is also a wonderful finish.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt hanging looked like it went really well. You had such a big location to hang all of those gorgeous quilts. Those samplers look superb! I'll bet it was a huge success. I especially liked those darling flowers. I don't think we have such colorful bottles here. That was so clever.
What a good way to use up all your fabric. Is buttonhole stitching essentially the stitching that is around a buttonhole, but you're not making the buttonhole? (If that makes sense!). I love the Baby Beach Ball quilt binding - so bright!
ReplyDeleteHi Maria well done on your beautiful work you get this beautiful quilts together so quick I struggle with doing quilts xx
ReplyDeleteHi Maria - your work is beautiful! Wish I lived closer so I could also join in on the quilting fun!
