Blocks and more blocks!

First was RSC block, Log Cabin. 

  

 5th Laundry Basket 

Finally the next LaPassacaglia block.

Now I’m auditioning fabrics for the next block.

Plenty to play with.

There’s plenty of different projects for me to work on this month.

No 2 is the Chookshed challenge number for February run by Deana…. I checked my list and it’s last years Angela’s RSC blocks,

I’ll find a sashing and hope the blocks will make a nice baby quilt. This months colour for RSC is RED so it’s a red dragon and log cabin block.

Next is the fifth Birthday block from Laundry Basket. Here are blocks 1,2,3 and 4

These blocks are 6 1/2” and a block will be added each week. 

And last but not least my Aussie Hero Blocks. Black and whites for this month.

Must away now and search through my stash .

FNSI for January and RSC.

I was pleased that Wendy was organising us again for FNSI as I do enjoy these sewing evenings.. 

For this month I had found an orphan block which I decided would make a nice simple shopping bag .

It come to together easily and I’m happy with the way it turned out. One gift ready for the box.

As it was still early I decided to find a pattern to work on the RSC block. Green is the colour for January. I like to make a kids quilt from the blocks so made a Dinosaur 🦖 . block.

Thank you to both Wendy and Angela for keeping busy each month.

Up and Over, Old into New and FNSI sign up.

Each morning my friends and I go up and over the sand dune for our lovely morning dip.

The best start to the humid days we’ve been having. 

I have a few older quilts that the fabric is worn out but I just can’t throw them out as there is still warmth in them.

I had been given some doona covers by a friend who no longer needed them, so I bagged the quilt and then did a few lines of Serpentine Stitch around and down the quilt turning OLD into NEW. 

It will be donated now.

As it’s the third Friday of the month it’s time to pop over to Wendy for the first FNSI for 2024.

Must away and find a project to work on.

First FnwFs for 2024

It’s always good to join in with Cheryll for FnwFs because I seem to get something organised to work on. Earlier in the week I found a pile of ugly Kaffe jelly roll strips I wanted to use to make a Table runner for my No 6 in Deana’s “Chookshed  Stitchers 2024 Challenge “

But first I needed to service my machine and pop a new needle in.

Then I joined some wadding and two pieces of fabric which I was using for the backing as I was doing a QAYG method for the runner.

As I’d made an early start it didn’t take long to finish the top and sew on the binding but it just didn’t quiet met .🤯

So I undid it and then gave the binding a little tug all the way round and then it was fine….

TAA DA!  No 6 of the challenge complete…..

 

Not the most favourite thing I’ve made but it’s done… Do I now also make a bag??

The challenge has begun.

                  Today being the first of the month Deana has chosen No 6.

On my list I have put “A Bag” with numerous ??? Sew when I was sewing two pieces of wadding together 

And then two bits of fabric as I thought they’d make a great lining for a bag I decided they’d make a better QAYG table runner so that’s what my No 6 now is….

I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone will achieve this  month. Thanks Deana for organising us.👍

P.S. I love how Deana replaced the little hearts with wee snowmen ⛄️, helps cool me down.

A Zoom GTG

Today  I joined Chooky for a Zoom GTG with the Chookshed Stitchers for awhile .Sadly my internet kept dropping out but I was on long enough to join in to Deana's Challenge.

We are to list 10 projects we would like to work on and Deana will pick a number on the first of the month that we are to work on each month and post our progress .

This is my List which I may change before the 1st Jan 2024.
